It’s been a couple months, whoopsie. Anywho, I’m a week away from releasing my 3rd single, “Pyotr’s Dream”, following previous releases “Memory Bank” and “True, Too”. It’s been fun balancing solo work and the new band I joined, Buddie! They’ve been a blast to play with; super talented and even nicer folks.

The album is complete and already off to be made into cassette tapes, thanks to my lovely roommate Dev, who runs the label Placeholder Records and also drums in BEEBOMB. Their Rhi-ppin’ guitarist Rhi also lives with us (excuse the pun).

On the live front, both BEEBOMB and my solo project are gonna be playing Music Waste on Jun 9th, which I’m looking forward to. My plan is to have a fairly resourceful setup by running backing tracks and using a floor amp modelling rig. Will probably have a fake plant next to me as well lmao.

May is generally a fun month, I turn a year older and knock-on-wood a year wiser. Cinco de Mayo tends to be extra fun in my case.

Howdy, readers of this article. I am currently 1.5+ years into making my first true solo album. Inspiration to create tends to go up and down for me these days, such is life I suppose. More songs are closer to the finish line than previously updated, with about 4 left to really nail down.

Being that this is meant to encapsulate and encompass all I’ve learned from music, it’s been interesting but freeing working without a project to create a direction around. I find it’s still quite cohesive despite that, as with all makers, we have our own ways of doing things and tastes with how to do them. I’m still taking from elements of songs I’ve made previously from various projects, which makes sense as in the end, I was putting myself in them as I am with this record.

Within the next few days, the next generation of my family will come into the world. My sister is a great human being, and I’m happy beyond words for her. Next month, I plan to release my own creation into the world with the first single off of the album. Track name and artwork to be made public in a week or two.

It is the 8th of December at the current moment, thank you kindly for viewing this blog and letting me occupy your attention for a period of time.

For what I think has been over a year now, I’ve been hard at work on my proper debut full-length LP. I’m incredibly grateful to have debuted a selection of the material last month at the Fox Cabaret, and to have played alongside Daniel McBurnie on the electric bass guitar, harmony vocals, and tambourine, as well as Jake Holmes on the drums and harmony vocals. We had also played some older material which received a wholeheartedly welcomed and appreciated response. Thank you to everyone who had spent their time and energy to engage with what I enjoy doing.

The new material has been an interesting exploration for me, as for the first time in a while I have a sole musical focus, with practically no other projects on display (save for a 10-minute ambient set I played a year ago that I was kindly invited to play by local legend Nathan Shubert). Work on it has been fairly start and stop, which although at times frustrating, it gives me moments to reflect and re-approach aspects of the songs from a clearer mind.

There are a few songs that are finally nearing the finish line, with 2 1/2 having crossed already. I look forward very dearly to releasing the first couple singles for the record in progress. Sometimes doing it yourself can be tiring.

Regardless, I aim to post updates more frequently as we cross into the year 2024, which judging by the work being done by my fellow comrades in the music world, should be quite the fantastic year for releases.
